COACH DIR SAYS:
"We'll finally get to see Chad in his role that he played in the Bundesliga. Unfortunately for the team last season, he was the only one with defensive experience at the time we were missing four starting defenders from our lineup. With Chad, we'll look for leadership, added goal-scoring and organization in the front of defense."
MLS HIGHLIGHTS

1998 Season: Despite playing in only 14 games, finished tied for fourth on the team in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points...prior to his arrival, the team was conceding 2.4 goals per game. After his inception at sweeper, the team conceded only 1.2 goals per game...scored the Burn's lone goal vs. San Jose (9/13)...did not play @ Los Angeles (9/2) after receiving a red card in the previous game...scored for the second straight game @ Miami (8/19)...scored his first MLS goal and the game-winner @ Colorado (8/15)...started for the first time at sweeper vs. New England (7/18) and registered his first MLS assist...started his first game for the Burn, playing 63 minutes @ Kansas City (7/11)...made his Burn debut, playing the final 31 minutes vs. Chicago (7/4).

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
A current member of the U.S. National Team pool and has 11 caps with the national team, scoring one goal...started vs. Germany in the 1998 World Cup in France...most recently played for Vfl Wolfsburg of the German Bundesliga...prior to joining Wolfsburg, played for FC Schalke 04, also in Germany...played two seasons at Indiana University before leaving for Germany at age 20 in 1991.
PERSONAL
Most memorable soccer moment was playing his first World Cup game against Germany in 1998...favorite movie is Blazing Saddles...favorite non-soccer teams are the Dallas Stars and the St. Louis Blues...an avid fan of hockey because it's quick and hard-hitting...fluent in German...enjoys playing golf and pool...married to Marci and has a daughter (Britney) and a son due this May.
